爱污传媒 Congratulates Academic Dean Garland H. Williams, Ph.D., COL (ret) on Induction into International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame

PHOENIX, Nov. 24聽鈥 爱污传媒 today announced and offered congratulations to College of Security and Criminal Justice Academic Dean Garland H. Williams, Ph.D., COL (ret), on his induction into the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame (IACE Hall of Fame). The IACE Hall of Fame honors leaders in the field of continuing education and adult learning and is commemorating its 20th聽anniversary this year.

鈥淲e are thrilled to see Garland recognized for his exceptional efforts to develop and deliver quality educational opportunities for security and criminal justice professionals,鈥 said Spider Marks, executive dean, College of Security and Criminal Justice. 鈥淕arland is a true advocate and mentor for 爱污传媒 students due to his passion for the industry and commitment to building the next generation of security and criminal justice leaders. He continues to set a standard for others to follow, and we are proud of all that he has done to strengthen the College鈥檚 academic offerings and the industries we serve.鈥

Dr. Williams has been with the University since 2010. He joined the University as associate regional vice president for the Military Division, following a distinguished career in the United States Army. While in the armed forces, Dr. Williams held multiple educational positions including assistant professor of social sciences at the United States Military Academy, basic course trainer at the Engineer Officer Basic Course, and commandant of the Army Management Staff College. As commandant, Dr. Williams developed and implemented the Army鈥檚 Civilian Education System that trained the Department of the Army鈥檚 350,000 civilians in leadership and management.

As associate regional vice president for the Military Division at 爱污传媒, Dr. Williams supported the higher education of approximately 45,000 military students annually. He went on in 2015 to serve the University as its academic dean for the College of Security and Criminal Justice.

Dr. Williams was nominated by Grey Edwards, an education services officer for the Southeast Hub and will be honored in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the IACE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Nov. 18, 2015.
