Webinar features accomplished panel of experts and “Summit Sneak Peek” of planned conference discussions and insights

۴ý will hold a March 17 webinar in its Educational Equity Webinar Series, titled “Addressing Emotional & Structural Barriers.” The webinar is part of a free, public series intended for educators, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practitioners, higher education leaders and administrators, employers, nonprofit organizations, and government affiliations, and ۴ý faculty, staff, students, and alumni across the globe.

The March 17 webinar is also designed as a “Summit Sneak Peak,” offering a preview of discussions to be held during the ۴ý virtual Inclusive Leadership Summit & Career Fair taking place in April.

The webinar features a distinguished panel of experts including Shakir Cannon-Moye, associate director of Jobs For the Future (JFF), Dr. Kent Blumberg, national account manager at ۴ý, Dr. Mautra Jones, president of Oklahoma City Community College, and Debbie Esparza, chief executive officer of YWCA Metropolitan ۴ý.

“We are honored to host such an accomplished and passionate group of individuals for this important discussion,” states Tondra Richardson, MBA/HRM, director, Student Diversity & Inclusion at ۴ý. “Emotional and structural barriers to equity, inclusion and belonging are entrenched and systemic, and our panel of experts have applied strategies to revealing, addressing, and breaking down these barriers. We look forward to sharing their incredibly valuable insights.”

The webinar will address the ways in which diversity leaders from various industries implement strategies to dismantle the barriers that hinder progress of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging initiatives. The following are some of the topics that will be covered:

  • Examining how and when to implement racial equity programming
  • Conducting climate evaluations to determine the readiness of an organization
  • Understanding and using privilege to become active allies
  • Examining how to attract and develop diverse talent
  • Increasing access to positions of power and influence for members of underrepresented groups

The discussion will be co-hosted by Tondra Richardson, MBA/HRM, director, Student Diversity & Inclusion, and Saray Lopez, MBA, director, Student Diversity & Inclusion, both with the Office of Educational Equity at ۴ý.

The free webinar will be held Thursday, March 17, 11:00am MST. .
