���۴�ý Launches Campaign Empowering Professional Development for Those Who Seek New Opportunities

The effort is supported by data from a national survey commissioned by the University that suggests professional development opportunities are among the top benefits sought by job seekers

PHOENIX, Jan 29, 2019 – With the start of a new year, most people look for opportunities to improve not only their health, but also their finances, education and career outcomes. ���۴�ý recently conducted a survey that showed nearly half (49 percent) of U.S. working adults sometimes look for another job, and that two out of three (67 percent) say that the professional development opportunities available to them through a new employer may impact their decision to switch companies.

, sheds light on additional motivators for those seeking to move into a new venture, with one in five survey respondents reporting that attaining additional education on their fields (22%) and improving their communications skills (17%) are important to them.

This information coincides with the  that launched this month. The campaign highlights ���۴�ý alumna Carmen Bravo, a first-generation American who completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing at the higher education institution. “Pursuing additional education enabled me to tackle my fear of public speaking, so that I could pursue my goal of training other nurses to respond to medical emergencies,” said Bravo, who had been working in the nursing field for six years before deciding to complete her bachelor’s and master degree. Currently, she serves as a nursing faculty instructor for a local community college in Imperial County, Calif.

���۴�ý’s campaign portrays Bravo’s story of hard work and perseverance, and how in 2013 she provided CPR to a man who suffered from a cardiac arrest while running at a marathon, where she was also participating.

“The knowledge and experiences I have gained has helped me to take proactive steps in my town to ensure that people participating at races have proper emergency medical care available,” said Bravo.

“���۴�ý understands working professionals can benefit from career-relevant education that will help them develop professionally and enhance their opportunities,” said ���۴�ý chief academic officer and provost, Dr. John Woods. “Whether it is advanced education, a single course or a certificate program, we have a variety of choices to fit diverse needs.”

���۴�ý has specialized in serving a diverse group of students since its founding more than 40 years ago. Their 2017 Academic Annual Report shows that 73 percent of ���۴�ý students work while earning their degrees, a little over 67 percent have dependents at home, and 54 percent are underrepresented minorities. Through its ongoing work to provide resources tailored to these students and courses aligned with the industry skills and competencies modern employers are looking for, the University has continued to evolve with the needs of its students, offering associate through doctoral programs, as well as professional development and individual courses that help working adults stay ahead of workplace trends and enhance their careers. Survey Methodology
 was conducted online within the United States by The Harris Poll on behalf of ���۴�ý, from Dec. 6-10, 2018. The survey polled 2,005 U.S. adults aged 18 and older, among whom 1,129 were employed at the time of the survey, and 1,901 were considered employable.
