The College invites external manuscript submissions for consideration in a Spring 2024 special issue on artificial intelligence across sectors
۴ý College of Doctoral Studies invites submissions for a special issue on the burgeoning realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its planned spring edition of ۴ý Scholar™ academic research periodical. The periodical, launched in 2017, highlights the commitment of ۴ý faculty, students and alumni to leading research through evidence-based practice. As AI continues to permeate every facet of our lives, from classrooms to corporate boardrooms, the ۴ý Scholar editorial team seeks to explore the multifaceted impact of AI on education, research, workforce, and beyond.
“In an era marked by unprecedented technological advancements, AI stands as a transformative force with profound implications across various sectors, including academia,” shares Hinrich Eylers, Ph.D., P.E., vice provost, College of Doctoral Studies. “We expanded the invitation to submit as an opportunity to explore a broad range of scholarly perspectives delving into the promises and perils of AI in the academic landscape, examining its potential to enhance teaching methodologies, streamline administrative processes, and catalyze groundbreaking research endeavors.”
Prospective authors are encouraged to submit original articles, conceptual pieces, and grassroots efforts that elucidate the transformative power of AI while navigating the ethical and practical considerations inherent in its adoption. Best practices, ongoing or recently completed research, and reflections on AI's implications for the future of education are welcomed.
Submissions are due Friday, March 29, 2024. While the ۴ý Scholar does not publish original research studies, the editorial team invites submissions that celebrate recent publications or upcoming conference presentations related to AI. Manuscripts should adhere to APA style guidelines and be 1,000 to 2,000 words in length. More information and guidance about submitting a manuscript for consideration is available here.
The ۴ý Scholar serves as the scholarly platform for communicating the results and outcomes of ۴ý research endeavors, and their relationship to the broader scope of learning and scholarship. The periodical has been assigned an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) by the U.S. ISSN Center at the Library of Congress. The assignment for ۴ý Scholar is online format ISSN 2771-6503 and print format ISSN 2771-6422.
The College of Doctoral Studies research centers contribute to the publication findings: CLSOR, Center for Educational and Instructional Technology Research (CEITR), Center for Workplace Diversity and Inclusion Research (CWDIR), and the ۴ý Career Institute®. As longtime leaders in online education, the university utilizes research to develop solutions in the core areas of leadership, workplace diversity and instructional technology to enhance student outcomes, improve communities and to help students, faculty and alumni grow in their career aspirations.
