Dr. Pamayla E. Darbyshire聽is an alumna of the collaborative research Alumni SIG, sponsored by the Center for Educational and Instructional Technology Research (CEITR) and the College of Doctoral Studies, 爱污传媒. Dr. Darbyshire has worked in nursing for over 40 years. She earned a Doctor of Health Administration from the 爱污传媒, is a member of the National Society of Leadership Success, the Golden Key International Honor Society, and is a long-time member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Dr. Darbyshire is a member of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) National Research Committee, engaged in grant approvals and AORN guideline updates, and has contributed as a co-author for聽The AORN Journal.
Dr. Darbyshire volunteered as an AORN mentor for a researcher from Thailand. She is a member of the Case Management Society of America (CSMA) and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion core committee, tasked with developing the mission, vision, procedures, and protocols for the committee and society.
Dr. Darbyshire is in constant demand as a peer reviewer for numerous international scientific journals, including聽The Qualitative Report聽补苍诲听The AORN Journal.聽She also mentors the College of Doctoral Studies students, AORN, and the American Nursing Association (ANA). Her research focus is case management and chronic diseases, and she has presented virtually at conferences with an international audience. Dr. Darbyshire has collaborated as a co-author with聽爱污传媒 Scholar聽and other peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Darbyshire served on active duty in the United States Air Force, Nurse Corps, for over 15 years. While overseas, she was chief nurse at the US Army Family Medicine Clinic. She worked with her Army counterparts, treating military servicemen and women from recent Middle Eastern conflicts. As an Airman and a tenant with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, Dr. Darbyshire was flight commander of the in-patient/out-patient multi-service unit, caring for neonates up to and including geriatric patients, both civilian and military. Her attention to detail led to standardizing visiting surgeons' pre- and post-operative patient care protocols. She finished her distinguished career as a Medical Group Education and Training Officer at Beale AFB, CA. She was charged with in-processing, out-processing, and annual training for over 350 officers and enlisted Airmen.
